Find Clarity for What Comes Next.
You may be navigating a career decision, stepping into greater leadership, building something new, working through a team or organizational challenge, or trying to turn an important goal into meaningful progress.
Professional Pathways Coaching & Advisory helps professionals, leaders, teams, and organizations get clear about what’s getting in the way, identify what matters most, and move forward with greater confidence and intention.
I’m Ericka Copening, founder of Professional Pathways Coaching & Advisory. For more than 30 years, I’ve helped organizations find, develop, and prepare people for what comes next. Today, I bring that experience to individuals, leaders, teams, and organizations navigating growth, leadership, and change.
You don’t need to have the answer before you begin. You just need a place to start.
A simple conversation to talk about what’s on your mind, what you want to accomplish, and whether working together could help.
WHEN THE PATH FORWARD ISN’T CLEAR
You can be accomplished and still be uncertain about what comes next.
Growth and change don’t always begin with a crisis. Sometimes you’ve reached a point where what worked before no longer feels like enough. You may know something needs to change without yet knowing exactly what that change should be—or how to move toward it.
You may be asking yourself:
What do I want next?
You’re considering a career change, new direction, opportunity, or goal and want greater clarity about where to focus your energy.
What’s getting in my way?
You know you—or your team—are capable of more, but something is keeping meaningful progress from happening.
How do I navigate this leadership, team, or organizational challenge?
You’re working through people, performance, communication, change, or organizational complexity and want a trusted perspective.
How do I move from where I am to where I want to be?
You know what you want to accomplish but need greater focus, accountability, or a clearer path forward.
How do I turn this idea into action?
You’re exploring a business, opportunity, or important goal and need help clarifying priorities and building momentum.
Whatever brought you here, the goal isn’t to rush toward an answer. It’s to understand where you are, what may be getting in the way, and what meaningful progress looks like for you.
WHY I DO THIS WORK
I know what it’s like to ask, “What comes next?”
For more than 30 years, I built my career helping organizations find, develop, and prepare people for what comes next. Along the way, I realized the moments that mattered most to me were the conversations—helping someone see new possibilities, recognize their strengths, navigate uncertainty, or find the confidence to take a meaningful next step.
Eventually, I found myself asking many of those same questions.
After decades of building a successful career, I had to look beyond the comfort of experience, title, and a familiar professional identity and ask:
“What does meaningful work look like for me now?”
That journey taught me that you can be accomplished and still be uncertain about what comes next. It also reinforced something I had experienced throughout my career: honest conversation, thoughtful reflection, and the right perspective can create clarity and open new possibilities.
That experience is at the heart of why I do this work today.
“You don’t have to have it all figured out. Sometimes clarity starts with an honest conversation, a little perspective, and the courage to take the next step.”
The support should fit the challenge—not the other way around.
I tailor the work to what you’re trying to accomplish. Sometimes you need space to think. Sometimes you need accountability. Sometimes you need a perspective to help you see a challenge differently.. And sometimes you need support turning clarity into action and moving important work forward.

MY APPROACH
I create a space where clients feel seen, supported, and challenged.
As a coach, my role is to create a space where clients feel seen, supported, and challenged through empathy, authenticity, and humor. I believe empathy builds trust, humor lowers defenses, and together they create the openness needed for honest reflection, meaningful growth, and lasting change.
The way I coach is guided by five values that shape every client relationship:
Authentic Partnership — Coaching is built on trust, mutual respect, and shared commitment. My role is not to provide all the answers, but to ask meaningful questions, challenge thinking, and support clients as they discover their own path forward.
Growth Through Reflection — Lasting growth begins with honest reflection. I create opportunities for clients to explore new perspectives, recognize their strengths, and move forward with greater confidence and intention.
Practical Progress — Insight has the greatest value when it leads to action. I help clients translate reflection into clear goals, practical strategies, and meaningful progress.
Leadership at Every Level — Leadership is not defined by title. Every individual has the capacity to influence, contribute, and create positive change.
Human-Centered Excellence — People are at the heart of every successful team and organization. Investing in individual growth strengthens leaders, teams, organizations, and the communities they serve.
You own your goals, your decisions, and your path. I help you navigate it.
Support for people and organizations at different points along the path.
I partner with individuals, leaders, teams, and organizations across private sector, public sector, nonprofit, and educational environments.
